Alexx Ekubo (born 10th April 1986) is a Nigerian born Nollywood Actor, Model, Motivational Speaker, Compere, Producer & Entertainer.
The 6’2” actor is also referred to as “Johnny” from the popular Yemi Alade Song “Johnny” which has over 135 million views on youtube, thereby making it one of the most watched music video out of Africa.
He has won numerous awards & competitions; like the Mr. Nigeria contest in 2010 where he emerged the 1st Runner Up, which gave him the platform to launch his mainstream movie career in Nollywood.
He is a Law graduate from the University of Calabar, Cross River State. & also has a Diploma in Mass Communication from Calabar Polytechnic, Nigeria.
Early Life & Career Beginnings
Born in Portharcourt, Rivers state, Nigeria, to Jane Ekubo, a fashion designer/business woman and Mazi Alex Ekubo, a petroleum marketer. The second of four siblings; Alexx has two sisters & a brother.
Alexx grew up in several Nigerian cities, owing to his father’s job description.
He speaks fluent Hausa & Igbo language. Alexx Ekubo was educated at K.Kotun nursery & primary school, Lagos & then Federal Government College Daura, Katsina State, before proceeding to the University of Calabar where he graduated with an L.L.B Law in 2008.
Career & Success
Alexx Ekubo has become a formidable force to reckon with & has successfully carved a niche for himself not just in the movie industry but in the entertainment industry at large.
He has been awarded and recognized by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari for his contribution to the development of Nigeria’s entertainment industry. 2018
He was inducted in the MIPAD/United Nations (Most Influential People Of African Descent) Top 100 under 40 years hall of fame. 2020
He also has a Certificate of Excellence from the Sapio Club SDG (Sustainable Goals Development) for an exemplary contribution to African entertainment & humanitarian effort. 2020.
He was given The Nigerian National Award of Excellence as the “Global Social Giving Actor of the year, for his immense charity works. 2021
He also bagged an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Arts & Culture from the Institut Supérieur de Communication et de Gestion (ISCG UNIVERSITY). 2021
